PVC gloves industry gradually recovers with coexisting market competition and challenges
Recently, the PVC glove industry has shown a series of new development trends.
In terms of demand, with the gradual recovery of the global economy and the continuous improvement of health awareness, the demand for PVC gloves in multiple fields such ashealthcare, food processing, and electronics continues to grow. Especially in some emerging markets, the demand for PVC gloves is growing more significantly. For example, some developing countries have increased their investment in the healthcare field, which has further driven the market demand for PVC gloves.

However, industry competition remains fierce. Although market demand has increased, the production capacity of PVC gloves on a global scale is still huge. Many production enterprises have adopted various competition strategies to compete for market share. Some enterprises attract more customers by improving product quality and performance and strengthening brand building; while others enhance competitiveness by optimizing production processes and reducing costs.
In terms of international trade, the PVC glove industry also faces some challenges. On February 9 this year, the Foreign Trade Secretariat of the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services of Brazil made an affirmative preliminary ruling on non-surgical latex and PVC gloves originating in China, Malaysia, and Thailand. It was initially determined that the products involved were dumped and caused damage to its domestic industry. It is recommended to implement a six-month provisional anti-dumping duty on the products involved in the above countries, with China being 4.83 to 20.94 US dollars per thousand pairs. This measure undoubtedly brings certain pressure to PVC glove export enterprises in related countries.

However, from the domestic market perspective, some leading enterprises perform outstandingly. Taking Blue Sail Medical as an example, the capacity utilization rate of its PVC glove business was only 70% at the beginning of 2023. But with the gradual digestion of channel inventory, the recovery of market demand, and the efforts of the sales team, the capacity utilization rate has increased quarter by quarter. By the end of 2023, except for a small amount of long-term idle old production capacity, it has basically achieved full production and become one of the few enterprises in the global glove industry to achieve full production and full sales first. According to China's customs export data, the export volume of Blue Sail Medical's disposable PVC gloves in 2023 increased by 8.4% compared with the same period last year, and the export market share rose to nearly 23%.

In addition, to cope with market competition and challenges, many enterprises have increased R & D investment and are committed to developing new types of PVC glove products, such as products with higher protection performance and more comfortable wearing experience, to meet the needs of different customer groups. At the same time, the industry is also actively exploring new sales channels and market expansion methods, such as strengthening cooperation with e-commerce platforms and expanding sales networks in emerging markets.

In general, the PVC glove industry is moving forward amid opportunities and challenges. In the future, with the continuous progress of technology, the continuous change of market demand, and the evolution of the international trade environment, the industry pattern may be further adjusted. Enterprises need to continuously improve their own strength and competitiveness to adapt to market development.
